Emeralds

I'm a little worried about my sp. "Emeralds". They are small! They are not
quite fully mature, but are growing much more slowly than any of my other
apistos ever did and it is obvious that they will be tiny adults. The
females are maybe 1.5 cm and the males 2 cm. There is no way they are going
to get anywhere near the lengths listed in Mayland and Bork of 5 cm for
males and 4 cm for females. Anyone know if this is normal? Are they just
late bloomers?
