Just called Hanna.  The turtle can be a max of 12' from your PC, so unless
your PC is next to the tank, carry a water sample from the tank to the PC.
The electrode lasts about a year and costs $35 list.  So no matter what, a
pH meter is gonna cost you about $35 per year for maintenance.
