Ken, There are apparently 2 different species listed as Bluehead Apisto. The Aqualog book, Southamerican Cichlids II has pictures of fish that look like young male & female A. luelingi under this name. I'm beginning to think they put the wrong photograph in the location for Bluehead Apisto, since it doesn't show much blue in the head. The other Bluehead Apisto, shown in Mayland & Bork's book, South American Dwarf Cichlids, (p. 54, front half only) is reported to be a domestic form of A. caetei with enhanced blue patches on the gill covers. I can't tell if it's truly A. caetei without looking at the tail, but it is a caetei-complex fish. All members of this complex tend to be on the easy side of the breeding spectrum (pH~6.5-6.8, moderately soft water <10º dGH).
