Boiled oakleaves will acidify your water some. Check out the archives at
Eric Olsen's thekrib.com for a detailed discussion.

Fresh leaves will probably decay much faster, and add more nutrients to your
tank as the do so. Autumn-leaves will be ok for several months.

Just had to add that black neons are my favorite dithers for a dwarf-setup.
They school well, even in a small setup, and spend most of their time in the
upper regions of the tank. I really like the way they look in a planted tank
as well!
