Bolivian rams

Question for the list please?

I have had a male and female Ram in a breeding tank for 2 weeks. They
spawned once but lost their fry after they were free swimming.

Last night the male developed bulging eyes, as in goggleyes.  His eyes are
covered this afternoon with a layer of gray, he can not see.  The only other
syndrome is his color, almost black, heavy and frequent respiration's, and
he stays in one spot near the bottom of the tank.

The female is not effected.

Question, has anyone had any success treating the bulging eyes?
