Re: iron for color



The red colour comes from carotenoids.  So, any food with lots of this in it
will colour the fish.  Unfortunately Apistos don't seem to like carrots.  :)
Carotenoids come from the chitin of shellfish (crustaceans).  So, daphnia,
shrimp, plankton, etc, anything with a shell should do it.

Maybe Cyclops is better for colour, but you're going to have to talk to my
Harlequin rasboras about the brine shrimp.  They are redder than any picture
I've ever seen in a magazine or book. :)
