1990 uS(microsiemens) = 1.99 mS (millisiemens), so the 9813 has double the EC range as the 9812. The conversion between ppm and dH is (as best I recall) 17.9ppm = 1 deg dH. The conductivity reading can't be converted precisely into dH because there is usually more dissolved in aquarium water than the components of water hardness. In addition, to get total dissolved solid readings (ppm), the HI 9813 will just convert the EC reading into ppm according to a set ratio. Whether the ratio is appropriate depends on what is dissolved in the liquid you are reading. For tap/fresh water I think 0.7ppm = 1uS is the common standard. Hi all, . . . Sorry but I can't find the correct symbol here, but what is the difference between uS and mS? Are they just different ranges of microsiemens? . . . Both models convert EC into ppm. Is the HI 9813 too low range for our fishkeeping purposes? Also I'm sure that I've read somewhere that there is a correlation between microsiemens and dh,is there a fomula for conversion? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com.
