hmmm. until someone isolates and identifies this "hormone", i'll reserve
judgment on the cause. however, empirical evidence does seem to suggest
that frequent, large scale water changes positively affect the growth rate
of most fry. i've proven this (to myself, at least) many times with both
dwarfs and rainbowfish.
