This can happen, especially if initially raised at low temperatures (<73ºF/23ºC). Still, I'd expect some to be males. I did once have a spawn of aggies that turned out to be all females - all 101 of them! > Was thinking of breeding a female cactuoides blue, with a male > cactuoides triple red > > Good or bad idea?? This has been tried before. I think a blue fish with red fins would be spectacular. It's certainly worth a try. Unfortunately, in the past the blue body usually turned muddy blue and the fins red had more yellow in it. I think that's what is pictured in the Aqualog book as A. cacatuoides "(CS)" (p. 27, S03418-4). With a lot of work and serious culling, who knows, you may develop a strain everyone will beat down your door to get. There are times that I wonder if the blue form, said to come from the Rio Putumayo, isn't actually a closely related, but separate species from A. cacatuoides - sort of like what we have in A. agassizii (Rio Tefé), A. sp. Tefé I, and A. sp. Tefé II. I've never seen a wild caught blue cockatoo that had any red on it. They rarely have any ocelli at all. When they do, they are very small and yellow. I agree with Bob. Let people know that they are a 3X red x blue cross.
