False.  I never take any special precautions.  I fill the hatchery with water 
that is 50% from the breeding tank and 50% fresh as close in pH-GH-KH as I 
can get to the breeding tank, and match the temperature.  There is some 
strong evidence that the old standard methylene blue actually does very 
little to reduce fungus.  I think some folks are using something else but I 
can't remember what.  Anybody out there  who can tell us?

This does seem to be the case.  I have lost a couple species because I didn't 
pull the first couple spawns, and then one or both of the pair died.  Next 
time I won't be so snooty, as we have had a significant number of reports on 
this list of fry raised without parents who then become excellent parents 
themselves.
