I never take any special precautions. I fill the hatchery with water that is 50% from the breeding tank and 50% fresh as close in pH-GH-KH as I can get to the breeding tank, and match the temperature. There is some strong evidence that the old standard methylene blue actually does very little to reduce fungus. I think some folks are using something else but I can't remember what. I have lost a couple species because I didn't pull the first couple spawns, and then one or both of the pair died. Next time I won't be so snooty, as we have had a significant number of reports on this list of fry raised without parents who then become excellent parents themselves.
