I have to say I'm a little excited tonight. I noticed that my young group of wild caught Bitaeniata had spawned. I used to have tons of the Red form Bitaeniata a few years ago, then sold or gave away them all away when I hate to admit I got into some Rift lake africans. Now I can't find that real nice colorful bitaeniata form anywhere. Late this spring I bought some wild caught fish that were young and unsexed. As time passed I ended up with one male and 7 females. I thought the fish were of spawning size but never got any spawns from them. That was until tonight. I happened to notice one of the females was nice and yellow with her black dot in the middle of her body really pronounced. I remembered this was brooding coloration for Bitaeniata females, so I looked a little closer and sure enough there was a clutch of eggs in the corner behind the flower pot. There isn't alot of them, maybe around 30, but I'm happy because they look like they are fertile. Anyways sorry for my ramblings, but once again the joy of a favorite fish spawning fills this apartment tonight. Does anybody out there work with the Brown Red form of Bitaeniata? If so please contact me. Thanks. John ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
