On the Bacteria front; keep sponges and gravel moist, in bags, and keep the temperature reasonable i.e. no cooking and no freezing. The little buggies should be happy enough with that at least for a few days. The Fish; It all depends on the transit time, and how things are set up at the other end. Generally bag them, 30% water 70% air, and insulate them, polystyrene chips, crumpled newspaper, in a polystyrene box or cooler bag (making sure the box or bag is at the same temp inside as the water). Adults, bag them as they get on with each other, narky fish on their own, others a couple to a bag, adolescents say four to six to a bag, fry as per their own co-spawnees up to forty-ish per bag. And keep the light out, it will keep them calmer. The Water; If the water in your new area is dramatically different from the old, take as much of your old tank (and fresh) water as you can with you. I know this can be a bit unpractical, but try getting some of those empty water cooler bottles, the deposit over here is about £1.50/$1 and demijohn brewing corks make good re-sealers. This should keep you going till you can assess the new water conditions properly, and at the worst set up a RO unit. If this is not an option get a RO unit set up as soon as is legally possible, at the new location and mix what comes out of that with what you can take with you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
