Hi Everyone, My Rio Mamore blues spawned about a month ago. So far, this is my first successful spawn. They are really nice fish (IMHO) and I'm still a little excited about it. They are in a 30g tank. There is a nice big fat male, two females that each have about 5-10 fry, and then there are six green flame tetras, and a much younger female mamore, who was taking some abuse. (I floated some plant clippings on top to give her some hiding places) I did not want to move any of the dithers because I was afraid the spawning apistos might turn their aggression on each other. Things have calmed down a bit now. The females are back to their normal colors, and are paying less attention to the fry, and the male is acting like he wants to spawn again. The fry are swimming around much more freely, but they are still small enough to be eaten by the tetras or the small female. (they are about 5 millimeters) I think it's time to move the fry, but, it is a heavily planted tank, with laterite under the plants, so if I pull up the plants, the laterite will fog the tank,(learned the hard way) and if I try the usual ways of catching them, they quickly disappear. Would it be better to just move the tetras? if I did that, and let the fry grow out, how long will the parents tolerate the youngens? Any help would be appreciated, Jay ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
