Who ever said that it is better to be lucky than good was onto something. My 'main' tank is a 45 tall (36x12x24). I recently converted it to a planted tank. I have been paying way more attention to plants than fish lately. Last night when I was feeding, I noticed that the pair of P. t. 'Moliwe' had a school of around 40 free swimming fry with them. I was very surprised. The other fish in the tank are 3 ottos, 5 Rasbora maculata, and a cardinal tetra. The Rasboras stay on the top of a very tall tank so I am not worried about them. I think the parents will not have any trouble keeping the cardinal tetra at away. I tested my water parameters and was shocked to find the ph at around 9 (the light were on). The KH was 2 degrees. My DIY CO2 ran out about five days ago. I had not had to to change it. I know that you can affect the sex ratio of apistos for about the first month. Does anyone know if the same is true of Pelvicachromis? I guess I should just be happy that my fish spawned in this water and that the eggs hatched but it would be nice to get some males.
