Wow Mike, I've been called lots of things in my life (some not appropriate
for public dissemination) however, Geraldine tops them all.  (You've
certainly got Helen Burns majorly teasing me.)

If you want to take a guess at it, the name is the feminine form of one of
the Archangels, German version.
Hint: it's the archangel who announced to Mary that she was going to be
pregnant.  Luke 1 verse 26.
