Meeting Minutes - 1/5/99
Board meeting is next Tuesday; hopefully Sam will read this and be able to
give directions to not-his house. :)
Meanwhile, by request, here's the minutes from last month's meeting
(they'll also be in the newsletter. In fact, may be the ONLY thing in
the next newsletter at this rate):
-----
GSAS Board Meeting Notes 5 January 1999
Present: Heater, Steve, Scott, Victoria, Bob '& Anne, Erik.
Upcoming meetings: March and May will be rainbowfish or Koi, which one
depending on the speaker's schedules.
Treasury: We have $4349.04 as of December 31. Any outstanding bills
contact Scott. New checks have been ordered. We discussed the rent cycle
for the Aquarium... Steve suggested quarterly, on an odd-numbered days.
Board Meeting: Sam's house on the 26th of January. February at
Waterfront Red Robin near the carousel.
Fish Contest: Erik & Kathy will check for Endlers; Heather will get some
from ANW.
Membership: Erik suggested sticking in a red expiration flyer in the last
newsletter for people. Motion passed after much silliness.
PR: February plant auction. Decided to do a couple posters. Kevin from
Fish Gallery would like a general club poster. Laurie was going to write
up some little pamphlets the stores might actually keep in the stores.
Flower and garden show was full up last June--- We're on the mailing list
so we might have a shot next year.
Plant auction: Sam's not here, but he'll be ordering the plants. $300
max.
FAAS: Heather moved to secede from the organization. FAAS reports contain
no unique information, and our money is better spent elsewhere. It was
suggested that the topic be brought up at a general meeting. Bob moved we
put it to a vote immediately, but this was squashed by others as we did
not have a quorum.
Library: Someone volunteered to take over or help.
Philanthropy: Dave's project is going well; he said he'll have pictures
soon. Scott and Heather heard from someone who is interested in donating
a small tank; this would be more beneficial as an auction item, so Heather
will draft an appropriate letter.
FOM: Plant-growing contest entries. Anne suggested longest Crinum bulb.
Alternate might be Val.
Other contest: We all need to write an "Against All Odds" article.
General Auction: Plan to have lists by next month. Perhaps less emphasis
on pandering.
Hospitality: We have a hot pot and a big tin of danish cookies.
Misc: Erik, correct spelling of "Treasurer" on front cover, and fix
