Some mail about the ALA convention. Also, the board meeting is next Tuesday, I think at Red Robin at the waterfront. I have one article total, from Dave. It may be a very small issue this month. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sat, 20 Feb 1999 08:40:46 EST From: Robert P. The details are listed below. Putting on a convention is a challenge and financially somewhat of a risk. We look to people like you to help us reduce that risk by sponsoring a category in the show. That way, the income pays for the awards for that category and the expenditure is lower for the organization. Your contribution will be recognized in the convention booklet and on a poster in the show room. Receipts can be provided if requested. The show categories are listed at the end of this message. Those with a name after them are already sponsored. The others are available for a fee of $25.00 US. Make checks payable to ALA and mail to Bob Cashin, 3012 McKee Road, Erie, Pa. 16506-1714. You can help even if you can?t sponsor a category. Please spread the word about the convention, plan on attending, enter fish in the show, bring items to the auction ( which is the best livebearer auction in the United States ), bring money from friends who can?t make it but want fish, etc. Thanks, Bob Cashin American Livebearer Association Convention Dates: May 14-16, 1999 Location: Harley Hotel of Cleveland West 17000 Bagley Road (at Interstate 71) Middleburg Heights, OH 44130 440-243-5200 (Free 24-hr/day limo to/from the Cleveland Hopkins Airport) room rate -- $69/night plus tax (1-4 people) Convention costs - $55/person (includes free T-shirt) Speakers: James K Langhammer -- retired curator of Belle Isle Aquarium Juan Miguel Artigas Azas -- Collector, hobbyist, underwater photogragher Gil Rosenthal -- Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Austin Thesis: The behavioral ecology of visual signaling in the Rio Panuco basin swordtails.
