RE: auction letters

This is draft 1... get your feed back in quick because I'm going to try to have
these in tomorrows mail.

Steve, is there a bulk postage rate/trick I can use? how about accompanying
these letters with a copy of last months newsletter so they have something
worth looking at and not just throwing away?

ciao,

Greetings!

I am contacting you on behalf of the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society in regard
to our up comming annual fund-raising event.

Every year at the April general meeting, we host an auction where both members
and non members are able to bid on an purchase assorted aquarium fish related
items. Live fish and plants, as well as equipment, magazine subscriptions,
medicine, tanks and books are among the items which are sold.

This auction is the primary funding for our club. Members will sometimes donate
used items, manufacturers also make contributions, and we also ask that the
local stores participate.

If you choose to make a donations to our annual auction, not only will you be
helping in our goal to promote the hobby, your store will also recieve
promotion at our auction (please label all donated items as comming from your
store). We will also be giving your store written thanks in future issues of
our newsletter 'NorthWest Aquaria', and listing you as an annual auction
supporter on our web site; WWW.GSAS.org

The money which comes in from our annual auction helps fund our club activities
including our philanthropy projects, our library, and arranging to have famous
speakers from across the country giving presentations here in Seattle
including; Karen Randall on aquatic plants (last October), Wayne Yamashita
talking about Rainbowfish (scheduled for May this year), and a presentation by
Wayne Leibel on South American Cichlids (scheduled in June).

While the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society is a non-profit organization, it is
classified as a social organization and you should therefore check with an
accountant to see if your donations can effect your annual taxes.

Early next week, a member of the club will be stopping by your store to see if
you will be able to support us, in supporting the aquarium hobby.

Thank-you for your time and consideration,
Most Sincerely,

Heather Candelaria
(GSAS President 98-99)
