The Wednesday before would be the day before Thanksgiving. Are people going to be available? Rather than December, perhaps May would be better. Assuming we have a big turnover, it would be hard to have new board members deal with a plant auction in February and the general auction in April. If we shot for May, the old and new boards could work together in May and June and perhaps we would get a smother transition. The fundamental problem right now is that we need more new people on the board. That way the rest of us can sit back and talk about how we used to do it in the old days and not actually do anything. I have a couple ideas I wanted to bounce off everyone before I forget: 1. Change board meeting night to Wednesday instead of Tuesday? At least two of our board members have trouble making the meetings on Tuesdays as it is. The reason I bring this up now is that at least four of us, (including the hospitality coordinator?) won't be able to make the next scheduled board meeting (November 30th)... perhaps we could make it the Wednesday before. 2. Hold elections, or at least get through the nominations, in the December meeting. We've basically been dragging feet for 4-6 months with last year's board and have yet to formally nominate or elect any members, let alone any of the offices. Again, this could be a good thing. December's Christmas party is a pretty laid-back pace meeting, much more appropriate than the typical hectic June blowouts of recent years. Another good thing with this scheme is that it will keep the same board over the summer break, giving continuity for the next season. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com
