RE: Also...

I mentioned to Erika that I beleive Fish Gallery & Pets, and Denny's Pet
World are continual supporters. Angels Northwest I beleive is also
current. Blue Sierra may be out of business. Fin and Feather may be
disinterested (should be revisited). Same with Snubber's in Tacoma --
they'd probably still support us but we should check.

Like Kathy said, only approach The Fish Store for auction donations.
Frank is very idiosyncratic about which ways they will support the
club, and touchy about accurate representation. We've been dinged TWICE
over this, not just last year, but five years ago when I published a fake
newsletter with an old ad from 1971 (for historical interest). Yikes!

I don't know if there are others. The best bet for drumming up support
with the local clubs is to make a list of every store in the area, and
literally go to each one in person with some copies of our newsletter,
posters (when we have posters), etc, and ask if they'd like to be
included. This also helps prime the pump for the auction. Of course,
it can be an icky job if you're not into it. I was REALLY into it 7 years
ago and had lots of fun spending the weekend driving around the sound
collecting business cards. A mere two years later I was no longer into it. :)

Back when I was "into" it, I had considered trying to devote a little
space for each issue towards one of the local retailers, whether or not
they sponsored us. Things like what sort of fish they specialized in, if
they got brine shrimp or other live food (and on what day of the week).
Never materialized. But might be an easy monthly column for someone new
who wants something direct.
