Hi June, I can give a historical (last 10 years) perspective on this: > At this time exchange NL's are coming to me. Am I correct to assume there no > longer is an identified "Exchange Editor"? Or you just put your name down as both. > Re Advertising: > What are the rates, rules? Is this something to save for board meeting? As we don't have an ad manager, it's probably not worth incluiding information on advertising. We had ads for maybe 2-3 years a bit ago, but it was a pain going around trying to get that $50 per year from the individual advertisers, so without someone committed, we dropped it. You can probably too, unless the board appoints someone with appropriate energy and PR-ness to do so. > Re exchange publications: What is usually done with them? If you like, you can mine them for possibly useful "exchange articles" when our own local folks can't provide local color. Or you could throw them away. The exchange program, in my opinion, is out-moded. It was designed for a time when you couldn't just hop over to your favorite websites for far better information. I'd probably cancel the whole exchange program outright, save for with Portland (and Vancouver if they ever got us back on their mailing list). In fact, one could take this line of reasoning a little farther and say the concept of the local aquarium society magazine really has changed now... where it used to be the way to get any info on the hobby, it's more useful now for (again in my opinion) "local" information... anecdotes written by US, social stuff, announcements about stuff happening here, articles with a local flavor, etc. Anyway, 'nuff said. Hope it helps. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe gsas-board" in the body of the message.
