Good Morning, Program suggestions: 1) Dave - You mentioned at the last board meeting that you had a presentation that you have given in the past that you wanted to "revamp" for this year. Is there time between now and October 21st to revamp it? 2) At the general meeting this week, Frank Tomko suggested that we have a bowl show at some of the meetings this coming club-year. I know Portland has them all the time, but frankly, I don't know what one is. I know we haven't had one in the two years that I've been a member of GSAS. If someone were to put together a program to explain what a bowl show is, and how the members could prepare and participate in one, is there enough material? 3) For that matter - and we'd better check this out - I just reviewed my email archive and I'm wondering... Does Rusty Wessell think he's coming to speak to us on October 21st? You might remember that my computer crashed sometime around late March/early April and I was not able to recover some emails, but here's what I found... -----Original Message----- From: Kathy Olson [mailto:kathy@thekrib.com] Sent: Sunday, January 05, 2003 6:42 PM To: 'gsas-board@thekrib.com' Subject: Oct 21th Hi Clay, I was told my last email was a little confusing because the subject line said Jan 18th. Rusty has DEFINITELY cancelled for JAN, we are working on getting him rescheduled for the week of OCT 18-22. Just in case anyone was confused, I wanted to clarify. I just mentioned this to Kathy, and she said that she will be taking care of hosting Ad and Paul, whom she had arranged as speaker coordinator. She will host Rusty as well, as he & the portland people have been e-mailing with her about arrangements. She has scheduled to have these days off work, and is planning on doing the hosting. However, future speakers will have to be arranged and hosted by others from the membership. Now, if someone would like to arrange a little party or get-together the Mondays before the talk (the speakers will be in Portland over the weekend), that would be quite helpful and fun! Some of you may remember we did this with Randy Carey and Karen Randall last year. - Erik > -----Original Message----- > From: Kathy Olson [mailto:kathy@thekrib.com] > Sent: Sunday, April 13, 2003 4:17 PM > To: Erik Olson; Hess, Clay A; Sanford, Dave LHS-STAFF; Rick Rose; Bob > and Judy Holmes > Cc: Julie Zeppieri > Subject: AD Koning, > > > > Hi, > > A question for you guys....the Vancouver Canada Aquarium is going to be > doing a new Lake Malawi display, they were wondering if we would consider > having Ad do the Lake Malawi talk in Seattle (and Tanganyika in Portland). > They can drive to Seattle but I think the 6+ Hour drive to Portland is > tough. Up until then, I thought he had just cancelled for Portland. Is this the guy that had some personality conflict with someone on the Portland Board? (I must be remembering from one of those lost emails, because I can't find it in my archive.) If so, then maybe he is either still planning to come to Seattle, or maybe he WOULD if we asked him. Remember, we have elections next month. That will take up some time, but I wouldn't imagine more than 10 - 15 minutes. That's all I can come up with so far. Rick
