Judging proceeds same as coloring contest. * Portland is actually talking about discontinuing theirs. * We had them back around 1997 or '98 for a little less than a year, championed by Bob Frangooles, but interest rapidly declined after the "newness" wore off. > 3) For that matter - and we'd better check this out - I just reviewed my > email archive and I'm wondering... I thought everyone saw the mail that Kathy sent on Monday. Maybe she just sent it to Clay and Clay didn't forward it. No, Rusty isn't coming! His last mail to Kathy through the Portland blockade (from MAY, not January) said to assume he wasn't coming. That is why I replied to this list and SAID he wasn't coming and that references to it should have been removed from the minutes. Incidentally, I also mentioned (and I beleive Kathy re-iterated in another mail) that if you want her to work on any speakers (i.e. you reference Paul Loiselle and Pam Chin), the board needs to ask her NOW for meetings NEXT year. This stuff cannot be done on a month's notice; these folks have long-term committments, and are already filling up their dates for next year. It took 2 years to get Ad. It is perhaps the middle of a similar 2-year process with Paul Loiselle. That nifty 2001-2002 season was almost entirely set up during the 2000-2001 season (with the exception of Karen Randall, who is a good friend of ours and did the last-minute booking as a favor). This stuff tends to never show up on the meeting notes or agendas, so I am bringing it up explicitly.
