Hi Cheryl,
Here’s a summary of what we did last year…
· Christmas Pot-Luck
1. The club provides (pays for) the ham and pop (ask Bob Holmes how much he bought last year.) 2. It’s kind of a tradition that Don Rudee likes to bring barbequed chicken (I think) so check with him. 3. A sign-up sheet needs to be passed around at the November meeting (you’re right; the meeting is TOMORROW evening.) I’ll assume you’re making the signup list unless I hear otherwise – just let me know if you need me to do it.
(1) Salads: (2) Chips/Snacks: (3) Side Dishes: (4) Desserts: (5) Other:
4. The club provides the utensils, cups, and napkins.
· We had an Aquarium-Related Gift Exchange (playing the game where you have to decide whether you want to keep the gift that you drew or trade with someone else before you unwrap yours). The price guideline is $15 and we always discourage the use of live fish or plants as gifts – both of these points need to be announced at tomorrow’s meeting – I’ll put you on the announcement list.
· A Kids’ Coloring “Contest” worked very well last year. Last year’s Board asked that caution should be taken in promoting too much of a “competition” among the very young children. The outcome of the “contest” should be guided in such a way that “everyone’s a winner!” and none of the young ones feel left out. We actually have a new committee chair that will be announced tomorrow called “Kids’ Activities Coordinator.” Tori Craig is the new chairperson. She will be in charge of the children’s activities at the Holiday Party. You and she should coordinate your efforts in that area – I think you’ll enjoy brainstorming with each other – you’re both Party Animals! J
· Erik has always been in charge of the Fish-O game (to my knowledge.) I would suggest that you contact him to see if he would be interested in doing it again this year. His email address is erik@thekrib.com .
· Prizes (for fish-O winners) - I would suggest that you contact Kevin at The Fish Gallery to see if he would be willing to help with prizes like he did last year. 425-226-3215
1. Last year, Kevin (from The Fish Gallery) called the Reps and was able to procure another Eclipse Six (like the previous year) for the Grand Prize. 2. Kevin also donated some small items (key chains, etc.) 3. GSAS purchased a 150w Heater and an AquaClear 200 from Kevin’s store.
I believe Sue and I still have the fish-Christmas-lights that we brought last year to help decorate. You’re certainly welcome to use them if you’d like. The Christmas music is a great idea; I don’t think we had any music last year.
I hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to ask myself or any of the other board members if you have any other questions.
Thanks! Rick
p.s. Miriam (the baby) is doing a little better this past week; thanks for asking. Her main struggle right now is to gain weight (wish I had that problem!) Because of her heart condition, her heart is working so hard that it quickly uses up the calories that would normally be producing weight gain. The doctors have made several adjustments to her diet and she’s on a continuous feeding tube which seems to be doing the trick.

Great! Yes what an awesome system! Rick, could you do me a favor and let me know the drill for the Holiday party? I did attend last years party so I do have a clue as to what the club has in mind but I want to make sure that I am clear on what my responsibilities will be. The following is what I believe I need to do, please let me know if their is something that I am wrong about or additional items that I am forgetting:
1) Set-up a buffet table for the party, providing the Main course ( Probably a ham or turkey), beverages, and paper goods.Coordinate through a sign up sheet at the next meeting who is bringing what, for side dishes. 2) Provide an activity for the kid's- ( Last year it was a coloring contest, should it be the same?) and a couple of prizes. 3) Provide holiday music- ( Christmas CD, portable Stereo)\
I know that there will also be a gift exchange and I am sure that you already announced this, or will be. I can't get a hold of Paul right now, but aren't we having a meeting tomorrow? Hope so, if I am right I will see you there. If I am wrong than I am in trouble with the sign up for food business! Thank's for everything, Rick, I look forward to contributing in some small way to the club! Cheryl P.S- How's the new baby?
