Hi:

This is what I have found out so far about a place at the UW.

Hi Susan,

I'm not sure if the UW allows outside groups to use their space or not.  The people that would know are at the Capital and Space Planning Office, 206-685-9960.  Be sure to explain that your group is not affiated with the UW.  If they can't answer your questions they can surely tell you who to call.

Good Luck,
David

Hi David:

The aquarium club I belong to is have rent issues with their long-term landlord, the Seattle Aquarium. They are making it really expensive for us to keep meeting there. We have been looking into other options for a few months now, and have come up with a possible lead at Seattle Pacific University.

I was wondering if you knew of any place at the University of Washington that we could use as a meeting place and to keep a library cabinent. I think a university would be a great place to have a club like ours meet. I personally do not like going to downtown Seattle, and going out to my car under a viaduct at 10:30 at night. It's also awkward to bring anything up the stairs, and there is no elevator that we can use, just a huge outdoor wheelchair ramp.

Maybe you could put me in the right direction of someone to talk to there. The club has been meeting Tuesday night at 7:30. Sometimes we have 40-50 people, and use tables, chairs, make coffee, serve snacks, and show slides or movies.
