Auction rules

Here's a basic statement of rules and procedures for both auctions that I have come up with for the proposed auction handout. It might be a good idea to include some or all of it in the next newsletter and/or post it on the website & member email list.
Comments and suggestions?

AUCTION RULES AND PROCEDURES
BIDDING: You will be issued a bidding number on a card. If you wish to bid on an item, hold that card up so that it gets the auctioneer's attention. Auction operation will be explained by an auctioneer at the start of the auction.

CHECKOUT: After you have paid one of the recorders for your purchases a printer located near the staging area will print out your receipt. One of the runners will then pick up the receipt, take it over to your "loot pile" in the staging area and verify that everything you purchased is there. Your receipt and all purchased items will then be brought out to you. Please remain outside the staging area unless you are invited to enter by one of the runners. This helps to minimize confusion.

EARLY CHECK OUT: You can check out before the auction ends if you like. One of the recorder stations will be designated as the early checkout station. Keep in mind that once you are checked out you will be unable to bid on any more items.

SPLITS (members only): Splits work this way; members may bring in items to sell at the auction. Quantity is limited to twenty items or "lots" (bags or boxes containing more than one item). 60% of the top bid goes to the member, 40% to the club. Splits will either be paid at the auction or mailed out within a few days depending on how frantic things get during the auction. It is crucial that members desiring splits get their sale items logged into the system well BEFORE the auction starts. Please do this as early as possible!

LARGE ITEMS: There is a ramp to the second floor and there will be one or more carts or hand trucks available for transporting large or heavy items to and from the auction room.

That's it for auction rules and regs.

Sign ideas:
"STAGING AREA. AUCTION PERSONNEL ONLY PLEASE" or maybe just "AUCTION PERSONNEL ONLY PLEASE"
"SIGN UP FOR BIDDING CARDS HERE"
"EARLY CHECKOUT" & "LATE CHECK IN". Maybe these could be combined.
"GSAS AUCTION" with an arrow pointing up. For the bottom of the stairs, and maybe one for the entry doorway at the top of the stairs. I have a sandwich board the sign could be attached to.

Anyone up for making some signs? they don't have to be fancy. Paper and Magic Marker will do.
