I like it Bob!  One suggestion (I'm thinking of bringing an extension 
cord for the printer so it's not even visible outside the staging area) --

How about this?

"CHECKOUT: After you have paid one of the recorders, keep your bidder
card.  One of the runners will pick up a printout of your receipt, and
your "loot pile"  in the staging area.  These will be then brought out to
you.  Please remain outside the staging area unless you are invited to
enter by one of the runners. This helps to minimize confusion."
