Even though we are a non-profit organization, we are not a tax-exempt organization (such as a church or a charity.) I do remember this question coming up with regard to whether or not we have to pay tax on things that we purchase – and we do. However, I’ve never gotten into it from the donation side. Does that preclude the sponsors from writing off their donations to GSAS as tax write-offs?

I need a donation form ASAP for Sierra Fish and Pet in Bellevue. They'll donate a 10-gallon starter kit if we can get it together. I am going up to Bellevue for the weekend.
