Hi Clay. The other auctioneer was Matt Kaufman.Thanks for your input on special gifts for donors / helpers. Probably not such a good idea to get that started. All of us who work on the auctions put in a tremendous effort.
I didn't realize that Jim Joyce (Conway) had donated a box of fish. This points out a need to come up with a much better system for tracking donors so that no one is overlooked. A note to that effect goes into my "Auctions" file for next time!
Reselling is something that we just have to live with, I think. Don't have to like it, do have to accept it but try to minimize it. It's not much different than antique dealers going to garage sales to buy merchandise, I guess.
Seems to me that the old "let the buyer beware" adage would be on the mind of anyone participating in an auction where used equipment "as is" is being auctioned off. Most people are honest, but maybe requiring donators of used equipment to put their names on it would discourage those inclined to be dishonest.
