Post auction
Hi Clay.
The other auctioneer was Matt Kaufman.
Thanks for your input on special gifts for donors / helpers. Probably not
such a good idea to get that started. All of us who work on the auctions
put in a tremendous effort.
I didn't realize that Jim Joyce (Conway) had donated a box of fish. This
points out a need to come up with a much better system for tracking donors
so that no one is overlooked. A note to that effect goes into my "Auctions"
file for next time!
Reselling is something that we just have to live with, I think. Don't have
to like it, do have to accept it but try to minimize it. It's not much
different than antique dealers going to garage sales to buy merchandise, I
guess.
Seems to me that the old "let the buyer beware" adage would be on the mind
of anyone participating in an auction where used equipment "as is" is being
auctioned off. Most people are honest, but maybe requiring donators of used
equipment to put their names on it would discourage those inclined to be
dishonest.
Bob
