I am so sorry that I did not get back to you until now. I was so caught up with my senior paper along with college aps and other school work that I have not been checking my email until today and therefore, did not see your reply.
To answer your questions, I've been keeping fish for about seven years now and the fish that I have or have had includes oscars, parrots, gouramies, killies, guppies, bettas, neons, cardinals, plecos, corys, goldfish, barbs, pristella tetras, swordtails, platies, pretty much everything and currently, I'm keeping a 100 gal discus tank, and a 45 gal oscar tank.
Since I enjoy having a community tank, I decided that it would be best to get the fifth grade kids that I will teach (at Ardmore Elementary in Bellevue at the end of Feb.) a community tank in their own classroom, both for recreational and educational purposes. It would be boring just to learn about fish keeping and not have a hands on learning experience.
I've talked to my old fifth grade teacher and we already have a 45 gal tank available, and the rest of the setup will require:
Gravel
Air pump
Heater 150-200 watts
Plants
Filter
fish
and any other decorations like bog wood or rocks, etc.
For my other part of the project in which I will be breeding fish for pesonal learning, I will be breeding bettas, guppies, purple cichlids, and some type of killifish probably gardneries. So what I also need are:
2 small five or ten gallon tanks
sponge filters for the fry stage
and heaters preferably submersible since the water level will be low
and any floating plants.
Again I thank you for your help, and I'm really sorry that I did not get back to you on time. Anything you can give me will help go towards the two hundred dollars on fish and equipments I estimate the project will cost.
