RE: [GSAS-board] plant auctopsy 2005

Good Morning,

I would like to echo Erik and Bob's comments on the auction. I was
shocked when I looked at my watch at the end of the auction and it was
around 9:30pm.....everything flowed very smoothly. I would like to
thank Dave for hanging in there and continuing to auction even when he
was not feeling very well.
I did like the fact that we could drop the items off to the people right
there next to where we were auctioning, that made it feel like the
auctioning was less hectic than prior years. It was nice that the
audience had good chairs to sit in too, made it a warmer, more
comfortable atmosphere to work in.
The one two things I had suggested to Bob were the idea of keeping the
sold goods in the back classroom for the main auction, less chance of
losing items out the door I think. And the other item was putting more
display tables in the alcove where the food was this time. We will
definitely need more display area for the main auction than we had for
the plant auction.
The only complaint I had was that there is only one bathroom for the
crowd. Is there another bathroom in a nearby building that folks can be
directed to? Or one downstairs perhaps?

Excellent job everyone!!! Another fantastic auction!

Clay

Thanks Erik!
Yes, it was the smoothest auction I can remember.

For the general auction in April, which tends to be a little more
chaotic,
maybe we should get an earlier start for both setup and auction start -
say
5:00 & 7:00? Or, if we can limit the number of lots to around 250, we
could
just start setting up a little earlier.

I was delighted that the facility worked out so well for the auction.
We'll
probably have to make slightly different arrangements for April, like
extending the staging area into the classroom and displaying the
merchandise differently. Clay had some good ideas there.
