Board: Baby Wallace: For those on the board, Megan Elizabeth Wallace was born on August 28th at 2:03 PM. She is happy and healthy at 8.5 lb./19.5?. I am working on getting a picture to Steve for the newsletter. Steve: Here is a draft of the ideas for a Award Program this season. I owe you a copy of this text as .doc and .rtf (etc) and a picture of the young one (expect link to Shutterfly etc). I can also work on putting pictures into power point after the newsletter goes out. Breeder/Horticulture Award Programs (BAP/HAP) this season Paul M. Wallace This season I would like to try something new with the Award Programs by integrating them into our regularly scheduled meetings. This starts with a form that you can clip out of the newsletter to record your progress (see below!). We?ll modify the regular meetings a little to include a mini-auction at the end of the evening if anyone would like to buy, sell or trade. And finally, we?ll hold a ceremony at the end of the season that will be as big as the number of people that participate! Basics: The Award Programs will be run as detailed on the GSAS.org website. Basically each spawning/propagation is assigned an eligible point value. These can be added up at the end of the season to your desired award level, as we did in the last year. How to participate: If you had a spawn/propagation since last season?s finale, please share by posting to the email list or filling out the form (below) to hand in at the next meeting. Include the common name (ie least killifish/jungle val)and the scientific name (Heterandria formosa/ Vallisneria americana). The number for an eligible report can be found at GSAS.org (partial counts are encouraged). The type might be pair/juvenile/males (BAP) or runner/stem/flower (HAP). Finally, provide the point value, if you are interested in award levels and any further details you would like to share. If you have multiple reports please make copies or provide the requested details on a piece of paper. If you have questions or concerns please contact me (Paul Wallace). The goal of the award programs, in general, is to encourage hobbyists in the area to share specimens with the club and the auction format allows the additional rewards of notes each entry (and donation) on the submission list to be counted towards award levels and a split of the auction price for non-certificate motivated members. Please keep in mind the auction is a new idea and will be run on a trial basis. Buying: The GSAS auction format is fast-paced with calling of increased value where the winner is the last hand standing. At the end of the night you pay the total of your bid purchases, and receive the fish. Selling: Current members (memberships are available at the meeting) will be able to receive a 60/40 split of the value at auction. If the specimen is unique a minimum (reserve) price can be requested. {brief Auction rules ?!?} *************************** Alumni 2005 University Of Washington *************************** _______________________________________________ GSAS-board mailing list GSAS-board@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-board
