Re: [GSAS-board] Placeholder

Steve:

I found Rick's auction rules in the Feb 06 archive and modified them below.
Please subsitute the modified into the posted text as you please so that the
general idea (we are experimenting with an auction of BAP/HAP) comes through
clearly. (me tired)

Baby picture sent. Let me know if you have any problems viewing it.

Modified text:

HAP/BAP Award program AUCTION RULES AND PROCEDURES (trial):
BIDDING: You will be asked for a name upon winning an auction. If you wish to
bid on an item, hold up a hand so that it gets the auctioneer's
attention. Auction operation will be explained by an auctioneer at the
start of the auction.
$MONEY: Please be sure that you've remembered your wallet or checkbook
PRIOR to bidding.
SPLITS (members only): Splits work this way; members may bring in items
to sell at the auction. Quantity is limited to twenty items or "lots"
(bags or boxes containing more than one item). 60% of the top bid goes
to the member, 40% to the club. Splits will either be paid at the
auction or mailed out within a few days depending on how frantic things
get during the auction.

donations and purchases!
Auction to follow the meeting.

Yes, it's time once again for the GSAS Annual Aquatic Plant Auction. If
you're ready to pitch those plastic plants and develop your aqua-green
thumb, there's no better time than now to pick up some great bargains.
We'll have the commons area reserved, extra chairs in place, and your
favorite auctioneers are warming up for another evening of fun and
non-stop deals. Also, we'll have a very nice selection of bogwood
available both in the auction and sold separately by-the-pound. Come
early to view the selection and stake your claim. As always, GSAS
Members can bring PLANTS and Plant-related items for sale in the auction
- Check-in begins at 6:00pm if you're SELLING, Viewing begins at 7:00pm,
and the gavel goes down at 7:30pm.
AUCTION RULES AND PROCEDURES:
BIDDING: You will be issued a bidding number on a card. If you wish to
bid on an item, hold that card up so that it gets the auctioneer's
attention. Auction operation will be explained by an auctioneer at the
start of the auction.
$MONEY: Please be sure that you've remembered your wallet or checkbook
PRIOR to bidding.
CHECKOUT: After you have paid one of the recorders, keep your bidder
card. One of the runners will pick up a printout of your receipt, and
your "loot pile" in the staging area. These will be then brought out to
you. Please remain outside the staging area unless you are invited to
enter by one of the runners. This helps to minimize confusion."
EARLY CHECK OUT: You can check out before the auction ends if you like.
One of the recorder stations will be designated as the early checkout
station. Keep in mind that once you are checked out you will be unable
to bid on any more items.
It is crucial that members desiring splits get their sale items logged
into the system well BEFORE the auction starts. Please do this as early
as possible!
Thanks for supporting the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society through your
donations and purchases!
Special Auction Schedule...
6:00 Doors open for you to bring items to be sold.
7:00 Even if you're not bringing items, come early to Pre-View.
7:30 Start-time for the meeting - Auction to follow
So, please make plans to attend, get involved, and watch our club
grow! The doors open for the general public at 7:00pm so come a little
early and get acquainted with others that share your love for all things
aquatic! Check out our website for directions and other interesting
information at www.gsas.org .
We'll see you Tuesday night!
