Usually we do this -- at least we leave some big items until 3/4 through
the auction. It was really the meddling of Matt, who has his own ideas of
how these should be run. His philosophy was to sell all the good things
first and save the crap to the end.

Another data point: I talked with some other friends last week who really
LIKED the way Phil auctioned. Considered it just perfect. So can't
please em all.
