Gift certs have been popular in the past.  We gave Diane and Rich Elliott 
(auction gotos for life it seems), Loren and Sandi Avenell (hosts for the 
summer picnic for like 5 years), and others restaurant GC's.  I think the 
board at one point got me a Barnes & Noble GC after I stepped down from 
something or other.  It's also not impolite to ask if there is a favorite 
place to eat, etc.
