Dear borders- Below is the auction info that we put in the newsletter last year - with a few changes. I could use some help updating it, so if anyone can suggest changes that I haven't made yet, or things I should add - please let me know. Steev The Auction has been moved to SATURDAY April 18th to encourage participation. This is our "everything and the kitchen sink" auction with fish, plants, filters, tanks and just about anything fishy. Members who wish to sell items are encouraged to arrive EARLY for check-in. Visit www.gsas.org for directions and other interesting information. Special Auction Schedule... 10:00 AM: Doors open for you set up. Please stop by early if you have a large number of items. 11:00 AM: Check in/Pre-View continues. Noon: Auction! AUCTION RULES AND PROCEDURES: CHECK IN: The whole bidding process has been greatly simplified with the new computer system. When you arrive at the auction, ask a computer user for a bidder card (non-members will be asked for ID). If you are selling, a stack of item cards will be provided. BIDDING: Items are won by the last card standing (highest price). The auction rules and guidelines will be explained. The winner signs the items card and adds to the ?loot pile?. Remember to bring coolers in which to transport your fish home. You might want to start cycling that new tank today! CHECK OUT: At the end of the event please line up at a computer station with your bidder card. Cash or Check is accepted for payment, splits can be paid on site or mailed. A printout receipt will be provided. EARLY CHECK OUT: You can check out before the auction ends if you like. One of the recorder stations will be designated as the early checkout station. Keep in mind that ONCE YOU ARE CHECKED OUT YOU WILL BY UNABLE TO BID ON ANY MORE ITEMS. SPLITS (Members Only): Splits work this way; members may bring in items to sell at the auction. Quantity is limited to twenty items or "lots" (bags or boxes containing more than one item). 60% of the top bid goes to the member, 40% to the club. SELLERS: Please make sure your fish are bagged properly with one sealed bag placed upside down in a second sealed bag for fish. Plants can be bagged moist in ?ZipLock? type bags. Please clearly label used equipment as "Working," or "As-Is," or "For Parts," or "Leaky - Needs new seal," etc. LARGE ITEMS: [ I deleted this part] Thanks for supporting the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society through your donations and purchases!
