Susan brings up a good point. Last time we tried to come up with the "Unifying Theory" of T-shirts and the final hang-up was that the cost was high. Reminds me of that saying that a Camel is a Horse designed by a committee. BUT if we do as Phil says, and come up with a design first then it will be up to the members to decide what they want that design emblazoned upon. And if members VOTE on a design then we will have a very good indication of how many people are interested in having a shirt of that design, AND they can vote for a design that complements the type of shirt they intend to purchase. So if Clay wants a red polo shirt with built-in pocket protector and slide-rule holder he could vote for a design that would look good on that. Or Calye might vote for a design that prints well on metal. Me, I would want a picture of a fish and the letters GSAS on the front of a black t-shirt. So instead of trying for an Official GSAS T-shirt with Logo I support opening the design competition to all and letting the chips fall where they may. I plan on submitting a couple different designs myself and I imagine that many others will too. Even if a lot of people don't like the winning design it will still be fun, and if the shirts are reasonably priced I would buy a couple of them ... and then we could do it again NEXT year with another design. Like a Huskies Rose Bowl shirt. If I still had one of the old 70s shirts with the Lionfish on it I would wear that sometimes. Oh no! A ti-shirt with a pocket again; that was an idea we got stuck on and it drove the cost way up. Susan On Nov 23, 2009, at 11:11 AM, Seattle_Aquarist wrote: > >Thank you Paul.
