[GSAS-board] January Speaker

Our January speaker has made contact and is looking to travel by train and
stay until Wednesday.  

* She is bringing a boyfriend.  I any one eager to host as a guest at your
house? (I figure that I should not ask the members.  True?)
* They will be without a car so I think near downtown is best.
* Anyone willing to drive them around?

I am happy to pick them up Tuesday night, go to dinner, and deposit after
the talk.

Hey Paul,

My formal title is "Senior Aquarium Biologist".  I think my partner and I
can probably figure out somewhere to stay; we're going to try to make it a
sort of fun weekend getaway thing while we're at it.  Of course, if you have
any recommendations for great hotels I'm happy to hear them!

I think my plan will be to travel down on the weekend with my boyfriend, via
train- the train will be only around $85 or so, so it's pretty economical.
We'll book a hotel and will probably come down Sunday and leave Wednesday.
Do any of you folks get together before your meeting on Tuesday to have
dinner or anything?  Would be great to connect with some fellow fish geeks
outside of just doing the talk.

Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for the invitation.  I'm really looking forward to this!
I may even have to come down and see Ad's talk in May- could you please add
me to your Aquarium club mailing list so I can get updates about the talks?

As for travel/lodging, etc, I'd gladly accept any funds to help with that
side of things.  I would definitely enjoy the opportunity to be hosted by a
club member, but before I take you up on that, I'll touch base with a couple
of friends here in Vancouver who may be interested in accompanying me to
Seattle- that way I'd be able to share costs on somewhere to stay.

I'll also plan on bringing down some Vancouver Aquarium pamphlets and
admission passes, etc, and would be happy to give a little spiel on why
folks should come visit us up here- and perhaps Phil would also like to
throw in his two cents on that side of things!

at the January program.  This season we are hosting a bit of cichlid frenzy
with several talks on the topic and your videos and 'life in the lake'
sounds great!  I would also like to hear a little about the Vancouver
Aquarium as it is still a personal favorite for me.

We have a small travel budget if you accept to pay travel, dinner, and
lodging.  We have several club members that regularly host speakers if you
would like.
