RE: scuds
The directions I got with the culture said no filter - probably sucks up the
babies. I don't see how they could become a problem if they are not all
eaten as they are scavengers...

Do you have a sponge filter or something? I tried these about 10 years ago
but never got many. If you get them going well, I might want to try them.
Do you just dump them into the tank to feed? It seems like they could
possibly be a problem if all of them are not eaten.

They are very easy to raise - but do not grow very fast until you get a
"critical mass" of them. Just a bare bottom 10 gal without a filter - some
hornwort or java moss if you want and just feed them a pinch of some cheap
fish food each day. I add a little container or mesh bag of Ammonia/Nitrate
resin as peace of mind as I do not have any plants in with them.
