Re: Bamboo - breakfast of champion pandas!

It has occurred to me that the Lucky Bamboo (the small growing shoots with leaves) would probably do really well in an over-the-back basket filter. Alas, my meddlesome cats prohibit me from trying! I received a few stalks of Lucky Bamboo for my birthday, but the cats ate it. (I hope that's not bad luck?)
I had actually been thinking of cutting the woody bamboo stakes to size,
then bracing them upright in the gravel, for a kind of thicket effect. In
my head, bamboo stakes and some floating water sprite makes for an Asian
ditch biotope, perfect for pearl gourami.
Of course, these sorts of plans always seem prettiest inside my head. The
reality of the final product is often sadly divergent. :)

Sounds like a cool idea to me, I am assumming you are thinking a green
source. Something that would grow in a tank?? It sounds cool to me but I
have no idea how feasible it is.

I have seen this done with mangrove seedlings. It is interesting.
