Re: Bamboo - breakfast of champion pandas!



The preliminary results are in, and so far it's working rather well! Long story short, I bought untreated bamboo garden stakes from Ravenna Gardens, couldn't find a suitable sealant, weighted the bottom with steel screws and nuts, and drilled very small holes in the segments to let the air out.

I took a picture and uploaded it to my server: http://fisherking.org/bamboo.jpg (30k). I'll report on the long-term results as they appear.

Maybe drill a few holes in the back where one can't see them -- or even
cut a groove with a table saw, so that water can move around & more easily
submerge?  Can one fill the bottom with rocks or gravel to help it sink?
