RE: Dec newsletter ads

Kate,

I will be insulating the fish room later, when I do the rest of the
house... but there is one big chore before that happens... rewiring the
whole house! So, that comes first and then insulating. Since I'm
planning on small tanks for the most part (and limited plumbing), I will
be easily able to remove the rack to do work in the room later on.
Unfortunately, the room I get to use is our laundry room, which is
small, and there is no room for a nice comfy chair. A stool would fit
though. Such is life... at least I'm getting a room to use, which I
didn't think would ever happen.

Mark

You might want to insulate the fishroom really well if it gets that cold

in the attic just to keep the humidity somewhat contained, otherwise
from what I have been told it will form lots of condensation on the
inside of walls and just under the roof, and run down the walls as water

leading to mold and even worse problems with insulation. Just another
thing to worry about...Sorry. I made a fake room out of sheets of styro
and taped it all up and I am sure it works well but it is definitely not

up to code, not kid, dog, or cat safe and most likely a fire hazard to
boot. But it works and I don't have dogs cats or kids. Plus this way I
can heat the whole room for cheap with an oil filled radiator style
heater from Fred Meyer, was $20 and costs little to run. I think if you
own your house your best bet is to insulate the fishroom first before
you start anything else, and do a proper finishing job over it, with the

air exchangers everyone seems to rave about or good humidifier. Make the

room big enough and you can accomodate a nice easy chair and reading
lamp that they whole family can enjoy. I really love kicking back in my
74 degree sauna/fishroom right now, we opted for a rental unit that
doesn't have any form of central heat. European style living at it's
best.
Good luck,
Kate
