Kate- This sounds just like a protozoan I was playing around with last summer. They are big Stentor-like things (funnel shaped). They swim around but like to stay in one place too. They are large enough that when you tap on the container you can see the color change (darker) as they all contract at the same time. I took some pictures under the microscope so I'll dig those out and show you. I eventually lost my culture of them, but they were fun while they lasted. Didn't think of using them for fry food, but that sounds like a good idea. There is another big protozoan that I've found that is only slightly green, and it looks like little hair clippings. They keep moving all the time, but slowly. I found some of them in with some dead cattails I had in a bucket but they are hard to grow on purpose. It is acid green. ..... ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, please send mail to majordomo@thekrib.com with "Unsubscribe gsas-member" in the body of the message.
