RE: Glass tops?



Yeah, these tops are going on tanks that are going to be pretty heavily
planted and with relatively high wattage.  I don't want to worry about
warping.  Think the hardware store person will get irritated if I remind him
to "measure twice, and cut once"? :)

For the 35 hex you might want to use this (lexan) as getting your home 
despot sales person to cut glass square and in the correct size is hard 
enough, I don't think they do funky shapes... also when measuring keep 
in mind that the metal thing on the end of the tape measure is often 
loose and the play on it may be off as much as 1/8" which can throw off 
the final size enough to make the glass fall in the tank if the tank has 
a narrow lip.
If you use lexan you have to flip it periodically as it warps, so 
probably don't want to put hinge on that. On the plus side you wouldn't 
have to have the hex lid cut more than once after you drop it like I 
did. If you find someone who will cut the hex lid shape in either lexan 
or glass let me know, I need one. ;)
