I don't have a problem with polycarbonite warping. Just Plexiglass. Yeah, these tops are going on tanks that are going to be pretty heavily planted and with relatively high wattage. I don't want to worry about warping. Think the hardware store person will get irritated if I remind him to "measure twice, and cut once"? :) Holly ~ -----Original Message----- From: owner-gsas-member@thekrib.com [mailto:owner-gsas-member@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Kate Breimayer Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 1:50 PM To: gsas-member@thekrib.com Subject: Re: Glass tops? For the 35 hex you might want to use this (lexan) as getting your home despot sales person to cut glass square and in the correct size is hard enough, I don't think they do funky shapes... also when measuring keep in mind that the metal thing on the end of the tape measure is often loose and the play on it may be off as much as 1/8" which can throw off the final size enough to make the glass fall in the tank if the tank has a narrow lip. If you use lexan you have to flip it periodically as it warps, so probably don't want to put hinge on that. On the plus side you wouldn't have to have the hex lid cut more than once after you drop it like I did. If you find someone who will cut the hex lid shape in either lexan or glass let me know, I need one. ;) Tanks, Kate Susan Welenofsky wrote: >I like polycarbonite (Lexan) better than using glass, and you can cut >it with a table saw. > >Susan > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Holly > To: gsas-member@thekrib.com > Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 1:13 PM > Subject: RE: Glass tops? > > > Er, Drs F&S, not Big Al's....
