Hey, thanks for reminding me where I got that scar on my hand: Changing the jar
on a broken Diatom filter. Man, that was a long time ago; my first state
industrial insurance claim in the tropical fish business. I've still got one
around someplace.

Hagen sells a filter attachment ("Quickfilter") that goes on a powerhead pump
and it filters down pretty fine. Has a replaceable element. Seems to work pretty
well. You could probably use one to devise your own submersible diatom filter
even.
