Betty: Assemble your pump/overflows so that everything collects in a sump (a spare 10 gallon aquarium works fine. The more volume; the bigger the sump.) If your containers are plastic you can install PVC bulkheads for water in/out. Place the heater bellow the minimum water level so that there is no chance it could ever dry out. The sump is also a great place to do mass water changes etc! The best filter that I have heard of for fry tanks involves cutting a piece of foam the size of the container (fry one side/ return other) so that a large volume of surface area exposed and the fry can pick at inforia too! Throw in a few happy plants and you should have some VERY happy fry. -Paul Subject: heating lots of little fry-rearing containers? Besides heating a whole room to 80+F or buying individual heaters, what's a good way to heat a bunch of little (1.5 - 2 gallon or so) fry rearing containers? They will have sponge filtration and I can rig that up to filter several tanks/containers off one pump, but I can't figure out how to do that with heating elements. I suppose there has to be some kind of in-line heating for use with canister filters, but I don't plan to use that kind of filtration. This would be for honey gourami fry (hopefully!) and maybe some threadfin rainbow fry.
