RE: [GSAS-Member] Hydra in Daphnia culture

How does one find out if they have Hydra in their tanks? Do you need to use
a microscope, or are there other signs?

Yes, it works like a charm! We had a horrible infestation in 1998 after
we purchased Apistogramma species from a breeder we'd flown up to speak at
GSAS. I think we dealt with it for a year before doing the fluke tabs,
and it completely eradicated all traces and we've never had any hydra
since.
