I will second Sandy's comments. If it weren't for Craigs List, I'd probably have 1 20 gallon tank. Thanks to Craigs List, I have a 55, a 40, 2 20 gals, a 30 long (all with stands). My last tank purchase on Craigs list was the 30 long, complete with stand, filter, lid, 3 inches of fluorite on the bottom, a large number of plants including two huge pieces of bogwood absolutely covered with java fern (I've thinned out enough to cover 2 more pieces, and it still looks full) and 5 scissortail rasboras -- for $50.00. All I had to purchase was a good light (his old light had broken). I took some of the plants for other tanks, and added some cryptocornes that I bought at the plant auction -- and then answered an ad on Craigs List and got some gourgeous, full & healthy cryptocornes and spiral val -- enough for both my 35 gallon and my 55 gallon that I was setting up -- for $20.00. I've also bought batches of tank & equipment and resold the tanks that I didn't want for a profit, leaving me with whatever tanks I wanted and equipment coming out of my ears -- power heads & heaters & filters & more fluorite & sand & -- you name it, I've bought it. I've also gotten free orphan fish (including a betta that has turned my landlady into an aquariust (sic?). Obviously, there are some really outrageously priced ads, but there are tremendous bargains there too -- and the more the use this resource, the more it will become the go-to place to find, trade, & sell all the things we need for our hobby. BTW, In addition to posting in pets, a LOT of people post in General -- so I'd look in both places if looking to buy, and post in both places if looking to sell. List what you are looking for on Craig's list. Also what you have to sell. I sold 2 aquariums on the list. They have a section for pets and a section for Wanted items. I have a friend that is looking for a 75 gallon bare tank and I listed it for him and he has had several calls. I finally found a decent roommate after looking for a year and a half. I found him on Craigs list. I have trying to get a nanny job now for 6 months. When I started looking on Craigs list I got more interviews in 10 days than I got in three months of looking in the paper! And the best thing is it is FREE. It has really helped me so I just can't say enough about it. Go to www.craigslist.org<http://www.craigslist.org/> and see for yourself. The list operates all over the world. There is also a free section where people give stuff away. You have to move on those pretty quickly but you could furnish your whole house with the stuff that is given away. And a lot of it is s! till in good condition. Stop supporting the Northwest Classifieds (Seattle times and PI use this company for their ads) they are way too expensive and not half as productive as the list. Be sure to type in .org not com that is, of course, a porno site! Susan, I saw you placed an add on the list for donations to the club of fish items. I think we should do a nice ad before the auction. And up dated it every day for two weeks before the auction (I can do this if you want) And I bet when you ask at the auction how many people saw the ad in the paper versus the ad on Craigs list we will get more hands raised for the list than the paper. Do you know someone looking for job, housing, equipment, appliances, furniture or just about anything? Pass the word along about Craigs list. This is not just some fly by night listing service it is really big and very well organized. You can even use their anonomise email so you do not have to put in your email in the ad if you do not want t! o. Once again all of it is Free. So check it out. I am very glad that I did! The ideal tank would be 5 feet wide, although that is not standard. A bowfront would be nice, but not essential. This could be cash or partial trade, since I'll have a 55 gallon I will no longer need. _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com<mailto:GSAS-Member@thekrib.com> http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member<http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member> --------------------------------- Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday!
