Anita:Sinple guide to posting for HAP (draft)The official rules are posted here for reference: http://www.gsas.org/Articles/hap.html So the basic idea is that when you propagate a plant you make an entry on your list stating the scientific name (if known), method of propagation (runner), and # clamed (up to 2) when possible it is nice to include the common name (if known) and any other important details. The next part is finding the class and then the point value. For example Java Fern is in the "B" class with 10 points. Total the number of points at the bottom and send it in. Pick the method you are most comfortable with be it post to the GSAS list, email me off list (I may post your "final" draft for the list, or hand me a piece of paper with the names written. I want to make this easy. For example I would accept: Class B (10pts) Microsorum pteropus (by runner, 1st claim) You mentioned that you were worried about the "observed" requirement. I would love to see a picture either posted if electronic or developed but my thinking is that documentation requirements increase with award level. So for your first 100 points or so based on your email posting stating that you do like plants I will take you at your word. If you do something interesting, like flower a plant I would very much like to see at least a picture though. Since the next meeting is the auction which will be very busy with lots of people we can wait to the next meeting to show pictures etc. Again, do what ever works for you and I will accommodate as much as possible. I will use this email as a placeholder for winning a bag of clippings. If you can post a draft list to the gsas list (one plant will do, it can be improved later) I will give you your choice of the grassy, ludgwegia, or build your own prize. -Paul -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of A JACOBSON Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 6:08 PM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] BAP repost? I would LOVE to post something on the HAP side, but I'm still not sure how to do it. I'm busy propagating plants, though, and I got my first tank in July. So how do I submit what I've done so far? It looks like Betty will score the second BAP post once she counts all of her snails and posts it on the GSAS email list. So my offer of plant packages was is hopes of spurring the HAP side though. Just so the plant people do not feel left out I will offer two additional plant packages to the next two HAP posts. Package 1 will feature 3 types of ludgwegia and package two will feature grassy plants like S subuleta, chain sword and Jungle val. If they are not claimed, they will go to the auction. I should also offer a novice package... Post on the list if you think you qualify. _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com<mailto:GSAS-Member@thekrib.com> http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member<http://lists.thekrib.c om/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member> _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member
